Watchmen (2019 Edition)
Staff Reviews
What shadows lurk in the dark corners of our streets? What muck oozes through the cracks in the pavement? Who is responsible and who will stop this? In the 1960s a group of Masked Heroes arose. Some did it for the glory like The Comedian and some for the fans like the Silk Spectre. Still others fought to eradicate evil in society and often performed morally questionable actions justified by their end goal. Rorschach was well known for this. In 1977 the government enacted the Keene Act that outlawed all crime fighting unless under direct management of the government. When the Comedian (Edward Blake) is murdered and other events follow, specifically targeting Masked Hero’s , one starts to wonder if there is a pattern or a motive. A book that tackles the ugliest parts of humanity and brings them to the light to be judged by you, the reader.
Description
Watchmen, the groundbreaking series from award-winning author Alan Moore, presents a world where the mere presence of American superheroes changed history--the U.S. won the Vietnam War, Nixon is still president, and the Cold War is in full effect.
Considered the greatest graphic novel in the history of the medium, the Hugo Award-winning story chronicles the fall from grace of a group of superheroes plagued by all-too-human failings. Along the way, the concept of the superhero is dissected as an unknown assassin stalks the erstwhile heroes.
