Lee Sachs\, 46\, served as the Treasury Department's Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets during the Clinton administration. Before joining the Obama administration he was a partner a fund manager at Mariner Investment Group\, Inc.\, and a former senior managing director at Bear Stearns.

Sachs joined the Obama administration as an adviser to Timothy Geithner during the transition\, heading a crisis-response team that is now becoming a permanent part of the Treasury Department. As an adviser on domestic finance\, Sachs helped conduct stress tests on the biggest banks and reshape the $700 billion bailout. He also helped manage trillions of dollars in additional government borrowing and advised Geithner on the market implication of issues from the Greek budget crisis to housing finance.

Announcing his departure from the Treasury Department\, Sachs said he's leaving now that markets have stabilized and Geithner has had some time to set up a permanent team. &quot\;I came back down here to help the president and secretary to design and execute their response to the financial crisis\,&quot\; he said in an interview. &quot\;The financial system is in a much stronger position today than it was a year ago.&quot\;
