Recycled Books Program

Not only is Off the Beaten Path the place for great NEW books, it is also your place for great USED books! With our Recycled Books Program we have started buying and selling used books. Customers can exchange their gently used books for store credit and help the environment at the same time by giving their books a second life.

When can you drop-off used books?
We have designated days, the first Saturday of every month between 11:00 and 4:00 PM, when you can bring in your used books!! We will process them and contact you to pick up your store credit within the week! See below for the types of books we are and are not looking for.

We accept a MAXIMUM of ONE BOX (or bag) of books per visit.

We will be collecting used books the
FIRST SATURDAY of EVERY MONTH between 11:00 - 4:00 PM.
The next drop-off date is:
Saturday, August 1st 11:00am - 4:00 PM

What do we pay for used books?
The bottom line is . . . we buy books we can resell. We offer store credit in exchange for your gently used books. Our bids are based on the expected retail value of the books. That retail value is derived from the books' desirability, current and historic market values, in-print prices, conditions, and our current stock levels.
You can expect to receive 15% - 20% of retail price for books in perfect condition.

Types of books we want:
With so many books in the world, and our own stock continually changing, it is impossible to say exactly what we'll be interested in at any one time. In general we are looking for paperback and hardcover: fiction, nonfiction, children, and young adult titles. However, the condition of the book is the most important criterion.

The kinds of books we are NOT interested in are:
• Books with writing or highlighting in the body of the book
• Books with torn covers, broken spines or water damage
• Hardcovers that do not have their original dust jacket
• Encyclopedia sets
• Computer books
• Textbooks
• Literary journals
• Magazines
• Audiobooks
• Business and travel books that were not published within the year
