About the Books:

Into the Roaring Fork

By Jeff Howe

They set out for Aspen in 1985. A one year post-graduation detour to play in the Rockies prior to entering the “real world.” That was the plan. They wouldn’t need much. Just ordinary jobs with a ski pass attached, a one-bedroom apartment, and each other. But tempted by the decadent side of this iconic resort town, Alex Cavanaugh enters into an illicit agreement with a new acquaintance and finds himself on a remote forest trail, where the crime heis committing pales in comparison to the one his path will cross, leading him further into the darkness of the mountains, and the human soul...

Charlie's Pride

By Dee Hubbard

Charlie, the proud hero of this gripping story, is known to his fellow truckers, loggers, and fishermen as Hawk. His father, a full-blooded Hupok, taught him his Indian heritage; his Scots-Irish mother gave him a lifelong love of reading. He feels connected to both roots, but he is most himself when he is by himself, out in the forest, on the banks or in the flow of his beloved Klamath River. The language in this novel is lush and romantic. A wealth of philosophy is verbalized in internal thoughts and stream of consciousness. In the mix we are treated to solid information on fly fishing, trucking, logging, the marijuana industry, and most of all the ecology of the forests and rivers of the California far north, a land that still enjoys wildness.

Fire with Fire: A Jack Tallon Novel

By Chuck McConnell

In a modern-day reign of terror, drug cartels control much of Mexico’s government and economy. Now their sights are set on the American Southwest. Unable to stem the tide and desperate for a solution, the US government calls on Jack Tallon, a retired, highly decorated Special Forces colonel with a hardened personality to match—who also happens to be a resident of the federal prison system. After he’s sprung from “Club Fed,” Tallon will lead a team of elite soldiers on a daring paramilitary mission to hit the cartels where they live. But in a stunning act of betrayal, Tallon discovers he has even greater enemies on this side of the border. Powerless and abandoned by the government he risked his life for, can he find a way to fight fire with fire?

MMC Explorer: A Near Future Novel

By Cesare Rosati

'In 2071, Adriana, the first permanent self-sustaining colony in space, no longer orbits earth. It has moved to a new location called L5. A UN treaty delineates the moon’s surface into Near Side (Earth’s) and Far-Side (Adriana’s). Ongoing animosity has prevented any official contact between their respective settlements – until now. The promise – or threat – of normalized relations between Adriana and Earth escalates when the space-pioneering Brock family instigates a realignment of Australia’s borders and , at the same time, develops an outer-space source of precious ores. With political and economic machinations entangling Cesare Rosati’s widespread cast of characters, their too-often devious goals remain unrevealed until the final pages of this journey into the future.' - Harriet Freiberger
