Off the Beaten Path Co-Sponsors Steamboat Springs Olympian Send-Off

Did you know that Steamboat Springs sent 17 Olympians to the Winter Olympics this year?  The Town had a big Send-Off on Friday, February 5, and Off the Beaten Path was proud to be a Co-Sponsor of the celebration.  Nelson Carmichael, Bronze medal winner in the 1992 Moguls competition, joined us to celebrate in the store.  Watch the video of Nelson as he signed posters and shared his medal.

Denver Post names Off the Beaten Path the "Cheers" of Steamboat!!!!!

" This popular store, in a new location, might as well be the Cheers of Steamboat. Everybody is at home in the comfortable bookstore/coffeehouse space. But the slightly more adventurous travelers who make their way upstairs will be rewarded with a nicely curated selection of stationery, a number of puzzles and even more room to enjoy your latte. The store is also the perfect place to go if you forgot your booklight or need a new topo map. 68 Ninth St.; 800-898-6830; steamboatbooks.com"

Healthcare Reform

Owner Ron Krall hosted a Fireside Chat on healthcare reform on October 19.  35 people crowded our loft for a conversation on healthcare reform – a lively, informative public meeting.  For coverage before the meeting see:

Shoplifting

In the Steamboat Pilot and Today, owner Sue Krall is quoted extensively in this article about an unfortunate aspect of retail business – yes even in heavenly Steamboat.

Denver Post names Off the Beaten Path one of the "10 things we love about Steamboat!"

"Long a local favorite, Off the Beaten Path has moved to a new location with new owners, downsizing the bistro to a coffee shop with baked goods and light fare but expanding the book holdings despite the slightly smaller space — which is good news for lovers of the independent store's well-varied offerings (they sell new and used books) and commitment to offering national best sellers, as well as a good selection of regional and self-published authors.
