This fun and whimsical tale by Neil Gaiman flies off the pages, enveloping readers into a full and exciting world of magic. Tristan Thorn leaves his home to journey through the land of Faerie, encountering many mystical beings along the way - faeries, witches, unicorns, sky pirates, you name it! This is a true fairy tale for the little kid inside every grown up.

I happened to pick up a Neil Gaiman book as a sort of last resort.  Well, how wrong was I???  I’d been avoiding him for some perverse sub-thought of mine (if everyone else likes him, I’m sure not to). Stardust is a magnificent adult fairy tale; filled with Gaiman’s sense of joy and belief in the unbelievable.  The story has everything from the lowly shop-boy to the princess-in-disguise (well, the Star).  There are witches galore, and the means to do away with them; magic of all sorts - the list goes on.  Eloquent on so many levels; thought-provoking - a lovely story, altogether.

I typically struggle to get into fantasy reads, but this is an awesome, short, crowd-pleasing fairy tale with memorable characters and just enough raunchy Neil Gaiman humor to make it not quite kid-friendly! This was an audiobook favorite of mine, but the print copy is also quite small and easy to carry along with you. Just give it a read!

Description

Now a major motion picture—this charming fairy tale by the #1 New York Times bestselling author, weaves a magical story set long ago in the tiny English village of Wall, a place where things are not quite what they seem.

Go and catch a falling star . . .

Tristran Thorn promises to bring back a fallen star for his beloved, the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester—and crosses the wall that divides his English country town from another, more dangerous world of lords and witches, all of them in search of the star. Rich with adventure and magic, Stardust is one of master storyteller Neil Gaiman's most beloved tales.
