Description

Alone on the beach, Emma heard a strange voice summoning her and she followed the call. Celia, sensing Emma was in danger, rushed into a raging storm in an attempt to rescue her best friend. Both girls disappeared without a trace from the shores of Wister Island.

Detective James Maples, accompanied by his ten-year-old son Alex, had been called in from the mainland to aid in the ongoing investigation. Alex, and Asperger's child, had become a loner since his own mother had disappeared when he was very small and he was perfectly content to ride out the days on the island in his room with nothing but his video games. Until he met an eight-year-old islander named Jilly. Their stories and secrets had created a bond between them that was stronger than anything Alex had ever known.

Then Alex heard the call. The voices began to summon him, a green-eyed seagull began to visit him nightly through his window, and the only person in the world he could trust with his sanity was Jilly. She was the only one who could understand.

Will Alex's advanced mind and Jilly's undying loyalty be enough to go up against the greatest evil either of them has ever known?

Alex must discover his own true strength in order to save the island from the darkness that threatens the very lives of the ones he has grown to love.
