About the Author

Sally Kamerling has been published in a variety of children's magazines including Faces, Boy's Quest, DevoZine and Clubhouse Jr. She started writing while working as a nurse and has also been published in Nursing Spectrum magazine and Chicken Soup for the Soul. She earned a BSN from Columbia University Presyterian Hospital School of Nursing, a degree in Education from the State University of New York and is a graduate of the Institute for Children's Literature. She enjoys traveling, especially to Holland, her husband's birthplace, and visiting friends and relatives still living there. She was inspired to write The Golden Cap after hearing her grandmother's story and visiting her birthplace in a small fishing village in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands.
