Booker T. Washington was born on April 5, 1856, in Franklin County, Virginia. He was known for being an American educator, author, orator, and advisor to U.S. Presidents. He also founded Tuskegee University, a private HBCU located in Tuskegee, Alabama. He died on November 14, 1915, at the age of 59.
