Onigiri
Staff Reviews
More than a cookbook, Onigiri introduces readers to a Japanese staple, the versatile rice ball. Nutritious, delicious, ubiquitous as peanut butter and jelly, rice balls have been a popular snack and even considered “Soul Food” in Japan and other Asian cultures for centuries. Onigiri gives curious chefs a quick tutorial about what makes a “rice ball” an onigiri and then goes on to explain the seemingly infinite possibilities for an onigiri. Along the way we are given fun facts about Japan and the history rice has played in building Japanese culture and society. The photography and artwork are both simple and beautiful and will make the reader hungry to start shaping their own edible creations.
