Description

An indispensable resource for therapists and clinicians, this book lays out a step-by-step method for using eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to treat phobias and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR consists of eight phases that use eye movement and other forms of rhythmical stimulation to treat trauma victims by reprocessing disturbing thoughts and bringing about profound and stable clinical effects. The research investigating EMDR treatment of PTSD—most of which supports its effectiveness—is summarized, and the treatment protocols for approaches to EDMR’s use with other disorders are described in detail.
