Library Author Series: Jon Kedrowski

The author and adventurer returns to share his new book, Classic Colorado Hikes: Lakes, Loops and High Ridge Traverses

Dr. Jon Kedrowski's new book book is for anyone who seeks out the Colorado high-country hiking and scrambling experience.  Kedrowski has outlined and selected some of his favorite hikes to backcountry lakes (including places to swim in summer or ice skate in winter!). Some of the hikes are loops, and some include an extra scrambling route—such as climbing a peak or following a high-ridge traverse from peak to peak.  If you've ever sat down for a snack break at a high mountain lake and wondered, "Can that peak be climbed?" Or, "I wonder if it’s possible to traverse that ridge," this book answers those questions. Tap into your desire to be an explorer after you hear Kedrowski talk, then grab this guidebook and a map and let your imagination run wild in some wild basins and remote corners of Colorado. His  discussion and slideshow will focus on trip planning and well as weather and climate conditions in Colorado for the recreational hiker and will include information on safety and backcountry preparedness.

As a bonus, at the end of the program,  Kedrowski will tease his recent expeditions to both Everest and Winter K2. He will discuss the strategy, risk management, and weather considerations for climbing these 8000m giants and even how you can get involved in visiting the Himalayas and Karakoram with him.
