The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Novel By Taylor Jenkins Reid Cover Image
$17.00
ISBN: 9781501161933
Availability: On Our Shelves Now
Published: Washington Square Press - May 29th, 2018

I love it when a book surprises me! This was certainly not the story I expected, considering the cover and title, but wow, what a story! Evelyn Hugo, a starlet from the 50s-80s, reminded me of Elizabeth Taylor, an entitled beauty who expected to get all she ever wanted. Evelyn chooses an insignificant journalist, Monique Grant, to interview her and write her exclusive life story. It’s a love story of a strong, courageous woman, whose seven husbands were merely a “backdrop” in her life!

Book Lovers By Emily Henry Cover Image
$27.00
ISBN: 9780593440872
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 Days
Published: Berkley - May 3rd, 2022

Nora Stephens is pretty much the anti-Hallmark heroine. She loves her high-pressure job in publishing, her spiky heels, and her Peleton. Her little sister Libby, on the other hand, is a Hallmark-loving romantic. When Libby coerces Nora into going on a very Hallmark-esque trip to a small town called Sunshine Falls, the last person Nora expects to run into is a grumpy fellow industry professional, Charlie Lastra. Of course, the pair keep bumping elbows (after all, the only place with reliable internet is the town’s tiny bookstore). While it’s not your typical girl-quits-her-job-and-marries-small-town-hunk story, Emily Henry proves that there’s more than one way to have a Hallmark ending!

I loved following Fatima al-Fihri as she grows from a curious little girl into a determined and resourceful woman.  Before this book, I didn’t know that the world’s oldest continuously running university, located in Fez, Morocco, was founded by a woman. Fatima was born in Tunisia in approximately 800 BC, and while we don’t know much about her childhood, Yuksel pieces together clues from what we do know. She is truly a woman that children can look to for guidance and strength when the world seems against them.  Mariam Quraishi’s undeniably gorgeous illustrations make this picture book perfect for sharing as a read-aloud!
