This sequel to the best selling Steamboat Entertains, boasts 555 recipes collected from Steamboat families, visitors, local restaurants and even some Olympic athletes. New in this edition is an International chapter with recipes from 13 countries where SSWSC athletes train and compete. Families will enjoy the chapter just for children featuring fun recipes such as snow ice cream and frozen lemonade pie.
Steamboat Entertains Again! features easy-to-follow recipes for every occasion. Many recipes take advantage of Route County beef or the wild game native to the Yampa Valley. Inventive and mouth-watering dishes such as Spooked, Chased and Peppered Corn Chowder, Citrus Glazed Wild Turkey with Chipotle Gravy, and Greek Lasagne will appeal to home cooks and professional chefs. Those looking for festive holiday recipes will enjoy Cranberry Chicken, Orange Chocolate Christmas Cookies and Christmas Eve Eggnog. "The first cookbook was a resounding success, selling over 53,000 copies. Due to its popularity, we have created a second edition. Not only is this cookbook packed with great recipes, it is a significant fundraiser for the Winter Sports Club," said Executive Director Rick DeVos.
Steamboat Entertains Again! is the result of months of hard work by many dedicated volunteers. "This is truly a community cookbook, said DeVos. "Locals and visitors alike submitted all of their favorite recipes." The 380-page hard bound second edition includes artwork by local artists, and Steamboat Springs High School seniors. The sophomore American Studies classes provided historical sidebars about the Yampa Valley.
The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, founded in 1914, is a non-profit organization providing opportunities for young athletes to become successful individuals and achieve their personal goals through participation in winter sports. Steamboat Springs and the Winter Sports Club have sent 56 athletes to Winter Olympic Games and hopes to send least 15 more to the upcoming 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. All proceeds from Steamboat Entertains Again! will be used to support the SSWSC in training over 1,000 athletes participating in six disciplines: alpine, freestyle, snowboard, nordic (cross country and combined) and telemark.
